Mantra Meditation
Purpose of Mantra Meditation
Your mantra will slow down your mind, which helps bring peace of mind.
The mind requires work. By giving your mind something extremely positive to
repeat, your mind stays out of trouble when you're not actively engaged in some
kind of work. If you don't give your mind work, you will be the slave of your
mind. By giving your mind a mantra to repeat, your mind becomes your servant.
Your mantra serves as "mental home base." After your mind has wandered for
hours, days, or weeks, where does it ordinarily return to? Nowhere! When you
practice mantra meditation, your mind has a place to come home to . . . even if
your mind has just blazed out 10 or 20,000 thoughts, you can come home to your
mantra and use it as home base.
